Troops in Ladakh get upgraded living facilities
The troops in eastern Ladakh have this year got upgraded living facilities and these arrangements will help the troops counter harsh weather conditions in the sector that receives up to 40 feet of snow every November and the temperatures fall up to negative 30-40 degrees.
The Army has worked on a war-footing to erect heated shelters, bunkers and arctic tents as well as acquire specialized winter clothing, gear and other essential supplies for its over 50,000 troops deployed at the “friction points” with China in eastern Ladakh as well as the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
As per the statement released by Indian Army “In order to ensure operational efficiency of troops deployed in winters, Indian Army has completed establishment of habitat facilities for all troops deployed in the sector,” .
Apart from the smart camps, an additional state-of-the-art habitat with integrated arrangements for electricity, water, heating facilities, health, and hygiene have been recently installed to accommodate the troops.
A video released by the military shows accommodation for the troops with beds, cupboards and heaters. Some rooms have single beds, while a living room has bunk beds.
