Army Starts a Tailoring Unit for Local Women

A large number of women and senior citizens gathered for opening ceremony of a tailoring unit in Surankote area of Faslabaad. The unit is started by Indian Army in order to empower women. “This unit is only the start, the aim is to make everyone, especially women self-dependent.” Said Major General P S Bajwa. “I am very happy to see such a large number of people came and we can have interactions with them. I want to congratulate everyone here to choose the road of peace and prosperity. It will be possible with combined efforts of Army and people.” he said.
This unit is created by the 6 sector Rashtriya Rifle with Saifi Healing Touch Research Bureau of Social Welfare of India. This unit will office six months of tailoring course to women to enhance their skills.
Abdul Majeed, head of Faslabaad village also welcomed the move and hoped that Army will come up with more such initiatives. Majeed said, “We are honoured that Army chose our village for this, and this will help a lot in development of the village. We hope Army and NGOs will come up with more such steps for us to lead better lives.”
