Happiness is a choice!

Article By Tanaya Pawar

When I was about 4 or 5 years old I always wanted to get into high school. When I got into high school all I wanted to go to the college. When I got into college I got bored of exams and study, then I wanted to start a job so that I could earn. And this went on and on. Every time when I reached a phase that I particularly wanted to be in, I was always disappointed. Now I have understood one thing; we decide our joys and sorrows long before we experience them.

When we are happy, we are more generous, kind and we have less negative thoughts. Through out our life we think that if we would be in this situation, we would be happy and if not, then there is disappointment. The truth is we really don’t know what we want. We always live in a rush to achieve something which we think would make us happy.

But we have got it all wrong. Happiness is not about a particular phase in your life or job or relationship or situation. Happiness is a choice regardless of what surrounds us. Happiness occurs more easily for those with the right attitude.

So how can we truly achieve happiness regardless of any situation?

Firstly, stop comparing your life with others. Everyone of us has a different journey. Stop beating yourself for the mistakes of the past. Try to learn from your mistakes. Stop worrying about the future. Be thankful about things which you have. Learn to make a sad situation better. Live in the moment. In this way you will be able to discover the good things in your life.

Don’t try to plan your life. Understand that you won’t ever be ready for what life throws at you. Learn to sustained by hope and nothing more. And you will find happiness in most unexpected ways. Never let any circumstances or person define your happiness. It’s all about finding a happiness that works you.
